The great thing about a walk – no equipment required and endless choices of walking-wear! All you really need is something comfy, maybe a layer or 2 this time of year, and most importantly well-fitting shoes, then you’re away.

Winter is a brilliant time to start to explore some of the options for walking on the Council website. Lots of ideas to make your choices easy. If you work in town grab your jacket and hop down to the Taylor River for a breath of fresh air at lunchtime. The path is a superb walking surface, you’ll feel miles away from the office, and yet you are just down by the river. And you’ll be surprised at how different the afternoon feels afterwards. If you can, grab a colleague to go along with you. Twice the fun, and you’ll find yourself out there again and again. Hooked on walking!
