Christchurch City Council has opened a temporary service centre in Linwood (Thursday 26 July).

The temporary Linwood Service Centre is situated next to the Linwood Mini Library, 180 Smith Street.
General Manager Public Affairs Lydia Aydon says the public will be able to access all the services that the Linwood Service Centre offered before its closure in April this year. The Council closed the Linwood Service Centre building following a Detailed Engineering Evaluation (DEE) which showed it had a seismic capacity of less than 34 percent of the New Building Standard (NBS).*

“We know that the loss of the service centre has been very difficult for the community so we are pleased to be able to offer a temporary solution that will ensure people can access all the usual services, including making rates payments and applying for rates rebates, paying dog registrations and accessing drainage plans,” she says.

The temporary service centre will be open from 9am-5pm from Monday to Friday.

The future of the closed Linwood Service Centre will be determined as part of the Facilities Rebuild Plan, which provides a framework for decision making around all the Council’s 1600 facilities following the earthquakes.

Other Council service centres that are open are:

•  Civic Offices, 53 Hereford Street.
•  Fendalton Service Centre, 4 Jeffreys Road.
•  Papanui Service Centre, 5 Restell Street.
•  Riccarton Service Centre, 199 Clarence Street.
•  Shirley Service Centre, 36 Marshland Road.
•  Lyttelton Service Centre, temporarily at 35-37 London Street.
•  Little River Service Centre, 4236 Christchurch Akaroa Road
•  Akaroa Service Centre, temporarily at 28 Rue Jolie.
