Petone residents, businesses and other interested parties should make the most of the remaining week to get in their submissions on District Plan change 29, says the council.

Environmental policy manager Bronwyn Little says it is vital people make their views known on the proposal, which directly affects a large number of properties at the western end of Petone.

“We need to get feedback from the community, but just as importantly the community needs to exercise its right to influence the final shape of the plan change.

“After the closing date on August 10, only those who have made submissions can be involved in the next stage of the process – further submissions and the hearing. The time to have your say is now.”

The council extended the period for submissions from the statutory four weeks to six to give the public plenty of time to comment.

The plan change proposes a greater mix of uses, including residential, retail, commercial and some industrial activities, as well as altering some development rules.

Information on the proposal is available at the council’s offices, libraries and website.
