LOWER HUTT

Earlier this year Community Patrols of New Zealand (CPNZ) held their annual national training seminar in Hutt City.

The event attracted more than 370 patrollers from across New Zealand as well as a number of police officers and Neighborhood Support volunteers.

The seminar was an opportunity for participants to learn new skills, connect with others from different towns and cities and leave better equipped to continue the fantastic voluntary work they do to keep our communities safe.

The event was organised by a committee of Hutt City patrollers, the Hutt Safe City Group and representatives from CPNZ with supported from Hutt City Council and other local sponsors.

In the Hutt Valley area there are community patrols in Eastbourne, Petone, Wainuiomata, Hutt City central, Naenae, Taita, Stokes Valley and Upper Hutt. These volunteer patrols look out for their communities; help reduce crime and work to make people feel safe.

If you are interested in joining a local community patrol, contact Kelsey at the Hutt Safe City Group on 560 2622 or nsgroup@xtra.co.nz. For more information about community patrols visit www.communitypatrols.org.nz
