Monday-itis cured with cupcakes
Second year Diploma in Marine Studies student Kristy King lit up more than a few faces around Bay of Plenty Polytechnic’s Windermere campus today with a selection of tasty cupcakes that tempted even the fussiest eater.
The stunning cupcakes, which looked far too good to eat, were all part of Kristy’s contribution to National Cupcake Day – a fundraising endeavour by the SPCA to raise funds for animals in need.
“I volunteered with the SPCA in the Waikato for a year before moving to Tauranga to study,” says Kristy. “I have cat I adopted while working there – but if I could have taken home all the animals I would have [and she did try!]”
Kristy certainly baked up a storm over the weekend and had 100 cupcakes to sell decorated with dogs, cats, octopus, penguins and other marine animals.
Kirsten Crossan, Student Experience Coordinator, said the cupcakes sold out in a flash! “Even the café staff were purchasing them! They were almost too cute to eat – almost! I definitely think Kristy missed her calling.”
