A proposed change to the District Plan affecting the western end of Petone has attracted nearly 250 submissions from a variety of residents, businesses and interested groups.

By the close of submissions on August 10, a total of 247 submitters had sent in their views of the change, which proposes a wider variety of uses in the area, along with some relaxation of development rules.

Divisional manager of environmental policy Bronwyn Little says council officers are preparing a summary of submissions, which will be publicly notified in September, in accordance with the Resource Management Act 1991.

“There will then be a 10-day period for further submissions by people who have an interest greater than the public in general or are representing a relevant aspect of the public interest,” she says.

The council will advise all submitters how to make a further submission, and also where they can get a copy of the summary of submissions, along with any individual submissions they would like to see.

A public notice in the Hutt News will explain how to make a further submission – information that will also be posted on the council website.
