LOWER HUTT

Finding exactly the right staff is never easy, but one Hutt company has carved out a niche for itself offering work-ready and almost work-ready trainees who are keen to complete work experience in a variety of industries.

HVT Limited says the people on its books have diverse career goals and are highly motivated to gain or update their skills and experience.

“Each and every one of them would welcome the opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities and employability,” says manager Carol Smart.

Carol says the company’s team collectively has more than 80 years’ experience teaching adults. “We are passionate about the power of learning and about helping others on the pathway to success, both at work and in everyday life.”

She says HVT can help provide staff for casual or permanent positions. “Trainees can be available to assist with peak workloads, special projects or to cover for staff absences.

“And if a company has a role for one of our trainees, but that person doesn’t have all the necessary skills, we will train him or her, wherever possible, to meet those requirements – at no extra cost to the prospective employer.”

Trainees are available for up to 40 hours a week for a maximum of 20 days.

“There is no financial cost to the employer. The only requirement is that trainees receive appropriate equipment and training time. Nor is there any obligation to offer any employment at the end of the work experience.

“But one unexpected benefit is likely to be the ‘feel-good’ factor of having contributed to the wider community.”

HVT Ltd has been in operation since 1996 and is based at Woburn House, 40-44 Bloomfield Terrace, Lower Hutt. Phone 939 0082 or email info@hvt.co.nz.
