Export platform launch leap positive

Rather than delivering a great leap forward for export growth, Export Year 2007 has provided the opportunity to build a platform for future export success, the Employers & Manufacturers Association (Northern) says.

Speaking on the launch of the Export Platform Document, EMA’s acting chief executive Bruce Goldsworthy said Export Year was no one-off thing but the start of creating a renewed awareness of the importance of exporting to all New Zealanders.

“The Export Platform sets out to build on the momentum we have been ramping up on exporting throughout the Year,” Mr Goldsworthy said.

“Over the period business and government agencies have been forging a private/public partnership which will be the cornerstone for future exporting activities.

“The Export Year Private Sector Reference Group has been charged with developing an ever broadening range of export actions to build progressively on the useful achievements of Export Year.”
