Positive Ageing - Celebrating Our Older Citizens

There are some opportunities coming up for young and old to celebrate the international day for the older people in our community – International Day of Older Persons 2012.

The day recognises the value of older people and the contribution they make to the wider community through their wisdom and experience.

Several events have been planned in Blenheim where young people can link up with a senior citizen to celebrate this day.

  • Aquatic Centre: Sunday 30 October, free entry to older person accompanied by a child.
  • Breakfast at the Movies: 7.30 am Monday 1 October at Top Town Cinema. Movie begins at 8.00 am. Free entry for person 65+ if accompanied by a child.
  • Visit the Library: Monday 1 October, morning and afternoon tea provided to older person bringing child into Blenheim or Picton library to read stories.
  • Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre: Monday 1 October, free entry to 65+adult bringing a child ($5 entry) from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm.
