Funding approved for Broadlands Road work

Taupō District Council awarded the contract to start work on part of Broadlands Road at the 25 September Council meeting.

The tender was awarded to Schick Construction & Cartage for $314,000 to address the deterioration of the road. The work will cover about 850m of road directly north of the Tiverton Downs Road intersection.

Over the past years, this section of the road has deteriorated due to wear and tear. As part of the reconstruction, contractors will demolish the road, lay new metal, compact it and reseal it. Work is expected to begin from mid-late October and is expected to wrap up before the Half Ironman event on 8 December.
