Residents in the Anderson Park/Lucknow area of Havelock North Village are being asked for their views of the suburb ahead of the development of a new community plan.

A survey has been developed which aims to find out what people love about the area, what they would like to see happen or to know more about and who would like to be part of helping make things happen in the area. The results of the survey will be used to develop a list of priorities for the area and provide information on some of the things people want to know more about.

Havelock North Councillor Wayne Bradshaw says “A group of people from the community began this initiative and they have received a very clear message from other residents who love their suburb, want to build on the friendliness it offers and further develop the facilities and natural features around it. The results of public feedback and the survey will provide us with a very clear direction forward for the area.”

Wayne Bradshaw says “This initiative will ultimately help build a safer and more connected community in the Anderson Park/Lucknow area.”

Fellow Councillor Scott Henderson says “It’s pleasing to see that the community is already showing an interest in developing “Good Neighbours” groups. These groups will become extremely valuable to the community during the implementation of the community plan. They will look to provide a wide range of social activities and projects which will benefit people's health and well-being and prevent social isolation.”

“Cr Henderson says “This project will give locals the opportunity to have a say in the way the area develops, while fostering pride and enthusiasm in the community.”

Community spirit will be at the heart of a family BBQ which is to be held on Friday 26th October from 3pm to 6pm in association with local clubs and agencies. The event will include ‘give it a go’ sports including tennis, squash and touch rugby.

The survey on the Anderson Park/Lucknow area can be completed at www.myvoicemychoice.co.nz. Survey forms are also being distributed to homes throughout the area and completed forms can be dropped off at the Havelock North library, the Lucknow Kindergarten or the Lucknow School.
