QUEENSTOWN

Renowned Queenstown construction company Rilean Construction took home the coveted Trade and Construction Award at the Westpac Queenstown Chamber of Commerce awards dinner held on Saturday night (October 27).

Rilean Construction has been providing quality commercial, residential and civic construction services in Queenstown for 18 years, and during that time has won several Master Builders Association awards, along the way building a reputation synonymous with quality.

The chamber awards celebrate Queenstown’s business ‘stars’ across a range of industries, from tourism to accommodation, professional services and new business, and were presented in front of a 300-strong audience of business people, entrepreneurs and VIPs.

Rilean Construction director Steve McLean said he was “extremely proud” to accept the award on behalf of his team.

“It’s no secret that the global financial crisis has hit the building sector pretty hard, so over the past couple of years we’ve adapted, going from a mainly specialist commercial builder to a more ‘even’ mix of commercial and high-end residential housing.

“We’ve introduced our Evolution Series of sustainable homes, incorporating a build and design service that delivers healthy, affordable and energy-efficient homes. Those efforts were rewarded just a few months ago when one of our homes achieved the district’s first six-star Homestar rating.

“We’ve also moved into the Canterbury region, with secured work and an office opening this month.

“Everyone has worked very hard to keep the work coming in and expand into new markets, so this award is recognition of everything we’ve done over the past 18 years and will continue to do in the future.”

Rilean has many high-end residential projects underway in Queenstown, and continues to work on many of Queenstown’s high-profile commercial projects, most recently a number of projects at Queenstown Airport and Queenstown Motor Group’s new car showroom.

Rilean’s depth of experience is backed up by the combined experience of its five shareholders. It also has two fully-registered quantity surveyors on its staff, the only construction firm in Queenstown to offer such experience.
