Two more international conferences worth an estimated two million in economic value have been secured for New Zealand with support from the Conference Assistance Programme (CAP).

The Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Asia Pacific Forum and Exhibition will be held in Auckland in March 2014.

Pitched by ITS New Zealand, it is expected around 300 international delegates will join a further 100 from New Zealand for the ITS Asia Pacific Forum and Exhibition which will profile a range of Auckland's ITS projects during the three-day event.

The New Zealand Powerboat Federation has secured the 86th UIM (Union Internationale Motomautique) General Assembly following a successful pitch in Corfu.  The conference will attract around 250 international delegates plus partners and was further supported by the Auckland Marine Industry.

The CAP is managed and administered by Tourism New Zealand on behalf of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment. It is available to any association or organisation that is in a position to formally bid for an international conference of over 200 delegates to be held here in New Zealand.

Tourism New Zealand is committed to increasing the economic contribution of international visitors by attracting more high value visitors. International conference delegates are that type of target visitor - on average they spend up to three-times more than the usual international visitor. They bring partners and families, and have the potential to become return visitors.

Since taking over the CAP fund in July 2011, Tourism New Zealand has assisted in securing eight international conferences for New Zealand, including these latest wins.
