The temporary Linwood Service Centre has re-opened this morning (Thursday 8 November).

The temporary service centre, which is situated next to the Linwood Mini Library at 180 Smith Street in Linwood, closed temporarily at the end of September to allow work to be carried out to strengthen the foundations of the building.

The temporary service centre will have the same opening hours it did before its closure – from 9am-5pm on weekdays.

General Manager Public Affairs Lydia Aydon says the Council appreciates the local community’s patience while the temporary service centre has been closed.

“While the temporary service centre has been closed longer than we anticipated, we are pleased to again be able to offer all the usual services, including the ability to make rates payments and apply for rates rebates, pay dog registrations and access drainage plans. We are grateful to residents for their understanding while the temporary service centre has been closed.”

The temporary service centre opened in July after the closure of Linwood Service Centre. The Council closed the service centre building following a Detailed Engineering Evaluation (DEE) assessment, which showed it was below 34 per cent of the New Building Standard (NBS). All long- term decisions about the future of the closed Linwood Service Centre building will be made as part of the Council’s Facilities Rebuild Plan project.
