Home sustainability features that appealed to buyers are double glazing, solar hot water system, an extra level of insulation, central heating, low energy lighting, and acoustic-rated insulation between floors. Agent Bruce Farquhar says "our training with The Home Sustainability Training Programme opened our eyes to the features that set the house apart from other similar priced properties with regard to its sustainability, and its ability to be a healthier home for the occupants. Once we were more aware of these features, we understood better exactly what was important to buyers who recognised the quality aspects of that particular type of property. It is no surprise to discover that the house is a national finalist on the 2010 Master Builders House of the Year, achieving Gold Reserve status in its category," says Mr Farquhar.
